He was a farmer, soldier, womanizer, lover, inventor and a man of many adventures. He was married four times without ever divorcing any of his previous wives. He fathered 14 children with two of his wives. As a mechanical engineer he worked for Igor Sikorsky, the helicopter pioneer, and also was a consulting engineer for the Navy at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyards on the USN Submarine The Thresher. His life was astonishing, but he left his first three wives to fend for themselves as well as abandoning the 14 children.
