Discover the inspiring journey of Aurora la Doctora, based on a true story, perfect for parents seeking empowering stories for their children. Follow Aurora, a determined young girl without role models, as she discovers her passion for medicine through her unwavering desire to help her ailing sister, Sofi.
A must-read for parents seeking to instill values of perseverance and compassion in their children, "Aurora la Doctora" promises to ignite young minds and encourage them to pursue their dreams against all odds.
Based on a real-life story, this rhyming picture book, colorfully illustrated by Reniell Iñiguez, a first-generation Hispanic medical school student, and written by Paola Mina-Osorio, an immigrant Hispanic physician, is both entertaining and realistic while portraying the experiences of Hispanic/Latino children who grow up without role models and face discouragement in their aspirations to pursue careers in medicine.
Only 6% of medical school matriculants are Hispanic/Latino.
We often fail to acknowledge that the disparities in educational attainment begin as early as kindergarten.
Sharing stories like Aurora's with our children is important.
They must believe in themselves and their potential, despite any disappointing experiences during early education.
