Author Biography

Jay Ferry was born and reared in Norwich, Connecticut. He graduated from the prestigious Admiral Farragut Academy. After a year of business studies at Syracuse University, he enlisted in the United States Navy. He was attached to Fighter Squadron 103 where he served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Saratoga and was deployed to the Mediterranean in 1968-69. Later he transferred to Attack Squadron 133 and served in Vietnam in 1970-71 aboard the aircraft carrier USS Ranger. Upon completing his military duty, he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Connecticut where he also lettered in basketball and baseball. For most of his working career, Jay managed commercial properties, including high rise office buildings, shopping centers, malls, condos, and apartments. He holds the Certified Property Manager designation from the Institute of Real Estate Management. As an entrepreneur, he founded and operated other businesses including Junior's Foods, Loretta's Hot Dogs, Ferry & Associates, Daytona Cobra, Monarch Management Group and Lease Review Services. Jay's interests include many seasons coaching women's basketball. He also coached at two colleges and four high schools. He was the first non-minority women's basketball coach at Bethune Cookman University and holds that same distinction in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. He is a licensed FAA pilot. These days his main hobby is swing dancing. Jay is twice widowed and has one daughter and three grandchildren. He currently resides in Port Orange, Florida. This is his first book.
