Author Biography

Trevor McMahon was born in Belfast in 1951 and educated at The Royal Belfast Academical Institution, where he was taught by Michael Longley, and Queen's University Belfast where he studied under Seamus Heaney. At Queen's he joined the literary circle, the Belfast Group, where he rubbed shoulders with critics such as Arthur Terry, Michael Allen and Edna Longley and writers such as Bernard MacLaverty, Stuart Parker, Paul Muldoon and Ciaran Carson. After graduating in English language and literature, McMahon worked as a schoolteacher until his retirement. He is widowed and has three grown-up children.
