Everything gets complicated by a conniving woman with nefarious plans when she shows up on Brooks' doorstep. He, the mischievous maple tree, the wind whispering secrets, or the streams gurgling gossip are okay with this turn of events.

In every chapter, Brooks reveals sage wisdom proving that there's no place like home, and there's no home like Brooks.
