Culturally Sustaining Pedagogies raises fundamental questions about the purpose of schooling in changing societies. Django Paris is the James A. and Cherry A. Banks Professor of Multicultural Education and director of the Banks Center for Educational Justice at the University of Washington. H. Samy Alim is the David O. Sears Presidential Endowed Chair in the Social Sciences and director of the Center for Race, Ethnicity, and Language (CREAL) at the University of California, Los Angeles.
