Americans show great flourishes of concern and grief when death is emanent, but a lack of consideration, at least openly, for years leading up to the event. We plan for every event of our lives incuding the abstract planning of coffins, plots and stones. Most people do not even want to talk about death except maybe the provisions for love ones through wills and trusts. Yet these are not considered pressing issues. Ancient cultures often embraced death to the point of actually living with the loved ones remains, while others revered even worshipped their ancestors and clung to their memory ostensibly to exact wisdom from beyond the grave. This book explores death, avoidance and the need for God in any reasonable understanding of the passage of life.
