From the Kitchens of Pancho Villa - Hardcover

by Karina Ann Betlem (Author)

From the Kitchens of Pancho Villa is a cookbook that not only contains over 230 authentic Mexican recipes from residents of a poor area in Mazatlán, Mexico commonly known as Colonia Pancho Villa, but also provides short biographies and photos of each contributor offering insight into their daily lives with stories and humorous anecdotes. Many of these recipes have been handed down from generation to generation and for the first time ever, have been permanently recorded in writing. This book shows you how to make classic, authentic Mexican food - fast, easy, delicious, and inexpensively. Some recipes can be prepared (start-to-finish) in 10-15 minutes! These cooks are all very busy people, some holding down 2 or 3 jobs while raising children and/or grandchildren. The recipes have to be easy, cook quickly, and be flavorful. You will see (and make) recipes that you would never recognize as Mexican food; while others are definitely recognizable as such. Learn the differences in each type of chile and how to use them. Step by step instructions on techniques and descriptions for other, less common ingredients (plus substitutions if necessary). This book has it all!!! Recently awarded WINNER of the Best International Cookbook 2014 by International Book Awards. It was given a 5 STAR REVIEW by Readers Favorite, AND it was chosen to be included in the Goody bags for the Emmy's!
