Health on Health coverage in Senegal - Paperback
by Amadou Fall Lo (Author)
In Senegal, only 20% of the population, made up of the formal sector, is covered by a health insurance system, while the informal sector, which represents more than 80% of the population, is covered at only 7%. Since then, the priority given to financial accessibility to quality health services has manifested itself in the development of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) through the adoption of a Strategic Plan for the Development of Universal Health Coverage (PSD-CMU) in accordance with the Government's desire to reduce inequalities through the revitalization of Mutual Health Insurance (MH). The objective of our study was to explore the points of view of the actors in the MOHs on the operational changes brought about by the implementation of the CMU in the Matam region. This is a qualitative study that used in-depth semi-structured interviews with MOH actors. The results focused mainly on themes such as: commitment to the MOH, training of actors, the state subsidy, trust in the MOH, overload of work with volunteers, and the benefit conferred by the MOH.
