Heaven Upon Earth: Jesus, the Best Friend in the Worst Times - Paperback

by James Janeway (Author)

Written after the Black Plague of 1665 and the Great Fire of London of 1666, James Janeway appeals to his reader to recognize in Jesus Christ the Best Friend in the Worst Times. Be prepared for a spiriitual feast fit for the children of the King. "This book is as precious as the finest gold. Its author, James Janeway, stirs the hearts of his readers, not to rest in a cold, speculative knowledge of God, but to seek that experimental knowledge of Him which enflames hearts, transforms lives, and affords unspeakable happiness throughout eternity. There is no friend in all the world like Jesus Christ, our blessed Saviour! So take this book, read it prayerfully, and discover for yourselves the intimacy of His blessed presence and company. Here is pure heart religion, needed more than anything else in these barren and lifeless times. James Janeway will help us to understand what John Holland, another Puritan, meant, when on his death-bed, he called out, 'Oh, speak it when I am gone, and preach it at my funeral - that God dealeth familiarly with men.' " - Malcolm H. Watts, Minister of Emmanuel Church, Salisbury, England
