Hooty McTooty Discovers True Beauty - Paperback

by Andrew Lucas (Illustrator), Anne Thompson (Author), Trish Hermanson (Author)

Pull on your PJs and curl up with Hooty to read a tail about friendship and beauty. This Seuss-like story in rhyme with bright illustrations for kids of all ages takes a humorous swipe at our airbrushed society. A lonely little hen named Emma embarks on a makeover, thinking it will guarantee friendship. She goes to a makeover artist named Raider who promises to give her whatever she pays for. At his Bird Body Shop he nips and tucks and snips and liposucks, transforming the hen into a birdie bod hotty. Now renamed Hooty McTooty, the chicken is voted Miss Poultry with banner and crown and tours the country with limo top down. But even though she's named cover bird of the Barnyard Gazette, she still has no friends, for Hooty McTooty had gotten a little too uppity snooty. She discovers that true beauty is more than feather deep; it's love that you give, it's joy that you reap. This delightful "tail" will make you giggle as you watch the transformation of the self-absorbed Hooty McTooty into a caring hen with friends who make her happy and happy again. "Colorfully delightful and carries the story line at an easy pace." Jewel Sample, "Flying Hugs and Kisses."

Author Biography

I write for those whose lives haven't gone exactly as planned, whether in romance, career, or family. Writing is the way I navigate the tension between how the world is and how it ought to be. As an award-winning reporter and editor of an international skating newspaper, my greatest fulfillment was capturing ordinary people's stories of pride and pain. I've written under the name Trish Hermanson and P.J. Hermanson. My novel, "The Wooden Indian Resurrection," captured awards from Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers and Pikes Peak Writers prior to publication. "Hooty McTooty Discovers True Beauty" has been a hilarious favorite for both adults and children. My heart is divided between my home at the edge of the Colorado Rocky Mountains and the Midwest prairies where I was raised.
