Portia Smith is a self-care and mental health wellness advocate. Smith is also a Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, and Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor.

Smith's specialty is in behavior management, anxiety disorders, suicide intervention and prevention, and crisis counseling. She finds the number of young people succumbing to these issues disconcerting, to say the least.

As an expert in her field, Smith knows that it's never too early to start teaching your child positive thinking habits that allow them to look on the bright side when the going gets tough.

In her book, she lays out in alphabetical order simple, yet fun affirmations that your child can use to boost their self-esteem and confidence. For just a few minutes each day, your child will slowly, but surely build positive thinking habits that they can turn to when times get hard... for the rest of their lives!
