by Joseph Estevez (Author)
In Joseph Estevez's debut novel, Isaac Abrams returns home to Golders Green in London after studying at yeshiva in Israel only to find that his best friends have become irreligious. He takes it upon himself to bring them back to Judaism, but his inner contempt for them only drives them away. A story about friendship and judging others, Isaac must decide whether he will adopt a more tolerant attitude towards his friends' differences in lifestyle.
'...a fascinating insight into certain aspects of Judaism and the relationship between observant Jews, secular Jews and non-Jews...the prose, though simple and straightforward, is more than competent, and engaging in its own way. I certainly found myself more invested in the story and the characters than I expected'- James Kinsley, reviewer Joseph Estevez is the author of three poetry collections, one short story collection and a novella titled The Calling.
