She and her husband, Jason, live in New York with their kids, Jack and Mia, and their itty-bitty dog, Khaleesi. Denise began striving toward her goal of writing children's books after a real encounter with a very scary German Shepherd. She learned to paint with watercolors for the illustrations in this book.
