Little Blue Shoe was inspired by the sight of a lost blue sneaker in the middle of the Highway in Charles Town, WV. I saw this shoe on the side of the road as I stopped at a traffic light. I wondered, "how does anyone lose or abandon a shoe like this in the middle of this busy intersection?" Little Blude Shoe became a creation by imagining where and why a little girl might lose a shoe. As Luna looks for her lost little blue shoe the story itself teaches children to be cautious when recovering lost items such as having to cross that dangerous highway to recover her lost shoe; as her mom says, always look both ways when crossing the street!
