Managed Care is the deeply moving story of Sylvia Rose, a young Denver physician trying to work through the related problems of her career and family. Along the way, Sylvia finds parallels between her troubled marriage and an unresponsive medical establishment. While the novel was novel was not written to coincide with the current health care debate, many readers will no doubt find the situations Sylvia faces in her medical practice to resonate with changes in health care management nationally.

Author Biography

David Milofsky is the author of four previous novels and hundreds of short stories and articles. He has served as editor of Colorado Review and has received fellowships from the Breadloaf Writers' Conference, The New Writing Conference, the MacDowell Colony and the National Endowment for the Arts. For ten years he wrote the popular "Bookbeat" column for the Denver Post and his reviews have appeared in many newspapers. He has also won the Prairie Schooner Short Fiction Award and the Colorado Book Award. He is Emeritus Professor of English at Colorado State University. He lives in Denver with his wife Jean.
