Only Margaret: A Story about Margaret Wise Brown - Hardcover

by Candice Ransom (Author), Nan Lawson (Illustrator)

A delightfully illustrated biography of Margaret Wise Brown, the independent, fun-loving picture book pioneer and author of Goodnight Moon.

When Halley's comet arrived in 1910, so did an extraordinary person: Margaret Wise Brown.

Margaret had a boundless imagination and a gift for spinning stories. From smuggling rabbits onto trains, to scribbling stories about island whispers, Margaret embraced adventure in life and on the page.

But while most grown-ups thought children's books were frivolous and silly, Margaret didn't agree. And while other people might have called Margaret strange - and sometimes her own worries and doubts felt overwhelming - she developed an instinct and belief that writing for children was important work and an incredible way to share truth, beauty, and wonder.

Author Candice Ransom's simple text and whimsical details, along with charming illustrations from Nan Lawson, tell the story of how this independent, fun-loving woman became a picture book trailblazer and the author of Goodnight Moon, The Runaway Bunny-, and other classics beloved by children today.

Includes an author's note, timeline, booklist, and selected bibliography. Part of Eerdmans' Incredible Lives for Young Readers series.
