This rhyming picture book is author Hope Taylor Spencer's first children's book. She's achieving her lifelong dream of publishing such a book. Each set of two stanzas starts out with one about what the children do on a sunny day at the beach. The second asserts that "nobody plays on rainy days," the refrain that repeats throughout the book. The author has included many fun activities that children playing on the beach love to do in the sand and in the surf. On rainy days, the youngsters sadly try to replicate those activities indoors. The lively, colorful artwork shows lots of animals that live on the beach and in the ocean doing what they do, no matter what the weather. Readers will laugh along as they read the book. If they're listening to the story, they'll be sure to chime in on the stanzas about nobody playing on rainy days. They'll want to read this many times to enjoy the rhymes and the fun on the beach.
