Spring to Summer, Fall to Winter is a picture book for children ages zero to eighty-eight that evokes the joy of each season with colorful, sensory-rich poetry and images. As the magic of each season comes to an end the wonder of a new season begins. As a bedtime story, the soothing words and colorful illustrations would be a lovely prelude to peaceful dreams.The story follows two siblings, their family, and their pet dog as they interact with nature through the seasons, from mountain hikes to flying kites, from playing in the sand and sea to jumping in piles of leaves, to playing in the snow. Written in the style of modern haiku, and using poetic sound devices such as onomatopoeia, alliteration, assonance, and consonance, this story could be included in preschool to third-grade literacy curriculum or inspire music, art, or creative writing.Common colors are woven into the story with the phrases: "spring green, brown nest, blue wing, blackberries, white clouds, purple boots, yellow chalk, gold wreaths, orange fox, pink nose, and red scarf," providing an opportunity to reinforce the concept of colors, along with the concept of seasons.
