by B. T. Scherer (Author), Susan Shorter (Illustrator)
This book follows the historical adventures of two adorable white squirrels. A young squirrel named Swish invites the reader to listen in on Old Mr. Squirrel's tale. We learn how the white squirrels came to this country from Thailand, how they escaped from an overturned carnival truck, and how they ended up establishing a thriving colony in North Carolina.
Author Biography
Elizabeth Anne Scherer grew up in South Florida, spending much of her childhood outdoors. Many fun creatures were part of her everyday life at the beach-crabs, seagulls, pelicans, turtles, bunnies, and squirrels-and in the country-horses, dogs, cats, owls, chickens, and squirrels. Pursuing her interests, she studied biology and ecology at college. Nature and animals continue to be her passion today. Her stories are about the animals she came to know and love in her childhood. They are also reminiscent of the beloved bedtime stories told to her by her father.
