As a career journalist as well as a native of metro Oklahoma City, Jarrett returns to the streets as a reporter to cover the bombing and its aftermath. He finds personal healing in the process of telling the stories of others' grief and pain. He finds himself re-bonding with his home state that he once couldn't wait to leave, then moves on with his life to Memphis to start a new chapter. Laden with some PTSD, however, he finds the road to peace and personal wholeness to be challenging. More than a third of the book describes the Oklahoma City bombing and its aftermath in detail.
