It was written back in the late 1980's, but the single manuscript was lost in the mail on its way to Betty's publisher. The reason you are holding it today is because the author recorded it on cassette tapes which were later transcribed, preserved, and resurrected three decades later to be formatted and published into book form.
It is hard to understand why God would allow Satan to rob the church of this valuable information except for the timing. Perhaps the church was not ready for it; but in these dark times, Christians need to understand their enemy, his devices, and subtle ways in order to stand by faith, withstand by truth, and continue to endure as good soldiers until each member meets Jesus face to face. The author, Betty Swinford, shared her valuable scriptural insight and experiences concerning the realm of darkness in this book for the purpose of teaching, strengthening and edifying the Body of Christ. It was her heart's desire to train soldiers of the cross how to discern and test spirits, take authority over demons, and set people free to become overcomers according to their authority in Christ through the Spirit and the Word. A supplementation was added to this book by the publishers to provide additional interesting accounts of spiritual warfare, along with a reprinting of Betty Swinford's excellent, small book, Word of Knowledge. It was first printed in 1976 and those who were involved with War In the Spirit Realm felt it would serve as an added bonus to this information to bring insight into this gift of the Spirit. It also shows how some of the other gifts of the Spirit work to perfect, encourage, and build up the body of Christ.
