When Time Stands Still: A collection of poems about birth, stillbirth and rebirth - Hardcover

by Rose Pearce (Author), Linda Mummery (Illustrator), Paula Klassen (Editor)

Now, I know death's canter
With each out-breath
I wait for his horse
Thundering through the valley
Flying between hoof beats
Sun and I, drumming the earth

Separation and grief, oneness and connection-two radically different experiences of losing someone we love. But how do we find our way from one to the other, when we are in the depths of grief and depression? When Time Stands Still is a book of soulful poetry about profound life transitions from the poet's own experience, born of "unimaginable loss and unwavering love," where an individual's journey and relationships are not limited by birth and death.

The aliveness of snowflakes
It's the form that changes
Essence remains
Cycle after cycle

Poems trace the joy of conception and birth, the complicated emotions of miscarriage and stillbirth, and the psychological/spiritual death and rebirth that these experiences can initiate. Shamanic understandings and the natural wisdom of animals, nature, and cycles of life are threads woven throughout. Illustrated with full-page colour artwork by Linda Mummery, When Time Stands Still is for all those who have had to reach deep within to find the strength to continue, for those who are questing after hope and light.

Let the light
Fill you again
Pain attracts healing
Where there is dark
The moon knows where to go
