What Gospel Does the Meal at Your Church Preach?
The entry requirements for ritual meals in the church have not changed from the entry requirements established for Israel in the Old Covenant. Let the little children come.
The church is not a religious organization but the new humanity in Christ Jesus, the one new man. Through the Lord's Supper, this new human race matures. Let the little children come.
How can a child be in the body symbolized by the "one loaf" but not partake of that loaf? Let the little children come.
In this booklet, Peter J. Leithart argues the sacraments reflect the character of the church, particularly the gospel by which the church has been gathered and in whose power she lives.
