About the Author, Paul MacRae

Paul MacRae has worked for more than 30 years as an editor and reporter for The Canadian Press, The Toronto Star, The Bangkok Post and The Globe and Mail, and as an editorial writer and weekly columnist for the Victoria Times Colonist. In 2002 he left journalism to get an MA in English and teach professional writing at the University of Victoria. He retired from teaching in 2020. He lives in Victoria, B.C., with his wife Sheila, has four children, and still mourns the death of the palm tree in his backyard during the cold winter of 2008-2009.
