The history of the Irish in Chicago goes back to the days when the city was little more than an outpost on the prairie shores of Lake Michigan. In Irish Chicago, author John Gerard McLaughlin has created a celebratory family album of Chicago's proud Irish population. McLaughlin is a freelance writer and Chicago native with roots in turn-of-the-century Bridgeport and Canaryville.
