Kane is a six-foot-seven French Canadian, but that's actually a recent development.

One year ago, he'd been just a wolf with his pack. That is, until a crazed, naked man burst through the trees and bit him. The infected man passed something into Kane's blood.

When he awoke the next day, he was human... but not always human.

As the legends go, Kane transforms by the light of the moon. However, when that happens, he doesn't become a snarling hell-beast capable of slaying enemies with a slash of powerful claws.

It appears, at least to Emelda Thorne, he only transforms into various dogs. And not very intimating ones.

The first time Emelda met Kane, the moon had changed him into a yipping purse dog. Then there was the pug. Kane has told her he cannot control his transformations and has no idea what he might turn into.

As a giant of a man, he's strong, cunning, and capable. However, unfamiliar with his human form, he's also a terrible driver. That's why he's hired Emelda.

Together, they are searching for the Biting Man who attacked Kane the year before. Only he knows the secret that will let Kane change back to a wolf and return to his pack.

But Kane isn't the only one the man attacked. And while the bite transformed the wolf into a human, the people who were infected turned into something else.

Before they get their answers from the Biting Man, Emelda and Kane need to first take down the monsters he created.
