After a heavy snowstorm, as a detective is clearing snow from his car, he finds a note someone has left him. The person who left it claims he is going to commit murder over the weekend at a remote inn and there is no way the detective and his partner will be able to stop the murderer. The two detectives reserve two rooms at the inn. When it turns out that their presence cannot stop the murder, it is up to the duo to solve it. When they receive the autopsy report, their list of suspects begins to grow and some of the evidence conflicts with what they already know.

Steve Demaree has always loved mysteries from the time he was a child. While he did not become an author until his early fifties, he has made up for lost time and has written twenty-six books so far, most of them mysteries with humor, but no profanity, sex, or gore. He continues to write a couple of books a year.
