A ramble and rummage through the Elham Valley in Kent in search of what is left of the railway that once connected Canterbury and Folkestone. This book is the first in a series of such searches for Railway Remnants. It includes two delightful sections, one on a former rural station faithfully restored and preserved as a superb home and one on the museum dedicated to remembering the line, in which it is partially recreated in model form. This book will be of interest to railway enthusiasts, railway historians, all walkers and those with an interest in how the British countryside has changed over time.

Author Biography

Peter Guise was born in 1955 in Canterbury, Kent. Married with a now adult daughter, Peter spent 33 years in public service before turning a hobby into a freelance career in radio sports broadcasting, mostly (but not exclusively) for the BBC. Cricket commentary is his major broadcasting passion although he has been privileged to commentate at the old Wembley for an FA Vase Final (not for the BBC though!) Often accused of being a dinosaur, Peter has a lifelong interest in railway heritage and closed lines in particular that might have provided a useful (and viable) addition to today's transport infrastructure had they either remained open or been built in the modern era.
