Why Not Her? A Manifesto for Culture Change

By Linda Coogan Byrne

This isn't just a book. It's a reckoning.

Why Not Her? A Manifesto for Culture Change is a bold and unflinching examination of the systemic inequalities within the music industry-and far beyond. Written by leading activist, PR specialist, and gender equity champion Linda Coogan Byrne, this powerful manifesto lays bare the barriers that have silenced women and marginalised voices for decades.

Through a combination of hard-hitting data, personal testimony, and case studies, Coogan Byrne exposes the culture of exclusion and calls for urgent action. This book brings the receipts, challenging industry gatekeepers, policymakers, and artists to confront uncomfortable truths.

Drawing from her years of experience leading the Why Not Her? movement, which has reached millions of people and driven policy change across broadcasting and festivals, Coogan Byrne offers not only an exposé of injustice but a blueprint for real transformation.

• Personal Testimonies: Stories of resilience from artists and industry professionals who've faced systemic discrimination.
• Actionable Solutions: A roadmap for creating real change, with concrete steps for individuals, industry leaders, and policymakers.
• The Flower of Life: Each chapter begins with this ancient symbol, representing interconnection, balance, and the sacred geometry of collective power-a potent reminder that the fight for equity is eternal.
